Scalabritney

Scalabritney's narrator is a young student who meets university standards in big cities: a shared apartment, friends, sexual encounters, job fragility. But his private life is, long before the domain of the concrete, the irrepressible production of fantasies that sustain his inner discourse. And it is around this dichotomy between the real and the imaginary, the tension between the experienced and the illusion, that Martín Zícari builds a prose sustained in orality and self-confidence. The result of this operation is a work that progresses through the jumps between a dance style based on four-legged animality and sarcasm over academic jargon; between a hypothetical horror film and a libidinal anthropology about the motorcycle riders of Buenos Aires; between contemporary art and variations on the results of an astral chart. In Scalabritney, the imagination can then be read as a means of escape, but the result of that evasion is a new morphology of subjectivity: richer, more festive and possibly deeper.
